The Ladies of the Shield recently celebrated 16 years of service to the Brothers of the Sacred Heart and Brother Martin High School. This past Saturday, November 12, more than 200 Ladies of the Shield members and guests celebrated the organization's "Sweet Sixteen" first with Mass in the James B. Branton Chapel, which was celebrated by Father Andrew Taormina ’54 SA, and followed by a cocktail party in the Brother Mark Thornton, S.C. Terrace.
Everyone enjoyed delicious food from various restaurants as well as wine and prosecco served out of a special Champagne Truck. Cissy Yakelis, Director of the Ladies of the Shield and charter member, welcomed all of the guests alongside President Greg Rando ’77 and Ladies of the Shield Members Debbie Perrone and Cari Rhoton.
The Ladies of the Shield have been involved in and supported many service events throughout the past 16 years, and they have together fully funded a scholarship and established a Ladies of the Shield endowment in the St. Aloysius Century Foundation that will continue to benefit families in need for many years to come. Thank you to these Partners in Mission for their generosity and for always giving back!
