Since Mr. Reller's Spanish III classes have been learning about natural disasters and problem solving, Mr. Reller showed his students a few segments of "La Mordida Perfecta" which is Mexico's version of Shark Tank. The literal translation is "the perfect bite." Students were paired together and held a class wide draft for Spanish-speaking regions in the world with critical problems that have affected them.
Problems ranged from earthquakes to landslides to poverty and homelessness. Students were then asked to invent something to help solve the problem even if it doesn't completely fix the problem. I asked teachers and faculty of various departments to observe the presentations and examine the feasibility of each invention as 'guest judges.' The students were then challenged and questioned on their inventions, from the guest faculty members, so they had to problem solve in real-time with the faculty's feedback.
