The Brother Martin Key Club spent Wednesday afternoon at St. Michael’s Special School. The Key Clubbers played in a volleyball tournament (The Golden Beasts won!) and then shared pizza, cookies and conversation with young men at St. Michael’s. Those in attendance were Joseph Bordelon, Ethan Cassara, Cameron Cassara, Spencer Hyde, Sebastian Gonzales, Alden Toca, Van Smith, and Dwayne Heron. Key Club is planning more fun afternoons at St. Michael’s after the Christmas holidays. Thank you to all the students, faculty, staff, and St. Michael’s for a great afternoon!
About Key Club: The Key Club aims to develop leadership and good citizenship through Christian service. Our club is sponsored by the New Orleans Third District Kiwanis club. Our primary service to Brother Martin is through the white paper recycling program. Our Key Clubbers are working in the community throughout the year all over the city at Boo at the Zoo, Animal Rescue Center of New Orleans, Super Saturdays at City Park, Mardi Gras Marathon, distributing Thanksgiving baskets to Gentilly residents, cleaning up New Orleans cemeteries, rebuilding houses, and working at community gardens. The Key Club chapter is part of an international organization that gives opportunity for students to network with members of other schools. Annually, various schools in the LAMISSTENN Region gather for fun and service with others schools at Divisional Rally and District Convention.
