JV Soccer Claims Second Place After Long Weekend

IMG_0781In just 26 hours, the JV soccer team played five games with two going into overtime, and came home with a second place finish in the Hahnville Junior Varsity Soccer Tournament over the weekend. The Crusaders beat Terrebonne 8 – 0, East Ascension 4 – 1, and Vandebilt Catholic 4 – 1 in bracket play to advance to the semi-finals. The Crusaders met East St. John in the semi-finals and after a scoreless regulation and overtime periods, the match was sent into penalty kicks. Goalie Cal Gruber recorded a big block on one of the PKs to help the Crusaders advance to the finals. After a scoreless regulation against the Jesuit Blue Jays in the finals, the match was sent into overtime where the Blue Jays were able to sneak a goal in with 3 minutes left in the overtime period to win the tournament.
