It was back to the basics for college planning for the Class of 2019. The Crusader junior class, along with members of the faculty, assembled for the annual, mandatory college planning seminar led by College Placement Counselor Ms. Kelly Wild. The seminar provides students with the resources needed to research their future opportunities and therefore make decisions regarding post-secondary education and career choices.
The juniors were presented with information about college exploration, recommendation letters, ACT/SAT, college essays, and the basics of writing a great resume. Updates on TOPS requirements and applying for other forms of financial aid were included in the presentation. Each student was also assigned the task of completing a career interest inventory to help guide them when choosing a future vocation/career. The results of this inventory, along with transcripts and test scores, will be used when each junior meets with his college placement counselor individually in the spring.
“The college seminar was very insightful! It also has personally helped me to narrow down some of my college options in my search process this year. Now, I can say I know how to apply for college, look for scholarships, and create a invaluable resume for the future.” – Keelan Didier, Class of 2019
