Junior High and Junior Varsity Dominate State Wrestling Championships

On Saturday, February 8th, the wrestling team competed at the Junior Varsity and Junior High State Championships. The Junior Varsity team won the State Championship by 33 points over St. Paul’s led by Dylan Moser '22, Ty Duncan '23, Sean Michael Cursain '21, Campbell Viles '20, Rocco Horvath '22, Luke Ohler '22, and Kolbe Landry '20 who all captured individual State Championships.

The Junior High team had an incredible performance as they won the State Championship by defeating the returning champs by 168 points! The team was highlighted by 11 finalists with Jacob Elsensohn '24, William Stumbo '24, Austin Gonzales '23, Sam Riles '23, Nicolas Malek '23, Evan Huling '23, Micah Barcelona '23 and James Noonan '23 all winning individual State Championships. A special congratulations goes out to Will Stumbo, Austin Gonzales, and Nick Malek for finishing the season with an undefeated record.

The varsity team competes this Friday and Saturday at the LHSAA State Championships and will be seeking the 20th team title in school history.
