Jabbar Singleton ’13 has recently been featured in an article in the Oracle, the Student News Media at Oral Roberts University.
As a two sport athlete at Brother Martin, Jabbar drew interest from scouts and coaches during his senior year. Singleton ran for 1,422 yards and 16 rushing touchdowns his senior year and was named to the All-District 9-5A team. These stats earned the attention of several universities and received scholarship offers from Florida International and Grambling. He also received interest from Louisiana Tech, Tulane, the University of South Florida, Georgia Tech and Auburn.
At the end of the football season, Singleton hit the hard-court and helped lead Brother Martin to a 29-7 season where he averaged 10 points, six assists and almost five rebounds per game. He was also named to the All-District 9-5A team in basketball. These stats helped him earn scholarship offers from the University of New Orleans and ORU and interest from Wofford and University of Texas-El Paso.
When faced with the decision on National Signing Day, Singleton chose his first love of basketball and hasn’t looked back.
