Invisible Children Assembly

Friday morning, members of an organization called “Invisible Children” gave a presentation to a school-wide assembly on the issue of children soldiers in the world’s longest running armed conflict.  The student body and faculty saw a 35 minute documentary entitled, “Tony” which followed the life of a child soldier in Uganda and the Invisible Children organization’s efforts to help him and children like him.  After the documentary, Collins, a young woman from Uganda, spoke to the assembly about what it was like to grow up in a country that has been in violent conflict her entire life.  “Roadies” from Invisible Children stayed after the assembly and set up a table in the Mall for students to learn more about the issue and buy merchandise to support the efforts of Invisible Children.  After school, over two dozen students met with the presenters to find out how they could help the invisible children of Africa.
