Alumni, family and friends gathered for Homecoming on October 18th. Festivities kicked off with a Tailgate Party outside of Tad Gormley Stadium featuring jambalaya compliments of Lenny Raymond ’74 and Pete Algero ’80 of Reinhart Foods. Sal Brocato ’88 provided pizza and Student Ambassadors served soft drinks. Deejay Eddie Gonzales ‘77 kept the crowd pumped up. The Drum-line for the Crusader Band, the Brother Martin Cheerleaders, The NJROTC Drill Team and the Crusader Marching Band all performed for the crowd. The 2013 Homecoming Court was introduced and fans then headed in for the game.
Before kick-off, championship Crusader teams celebrating anniversaries were recognized including the 1974 and 2004 District and State Basketball Champions, the 1983 District Football Champions and the 2008 Undefeated District Football Champions. Also, the 1993 and 1998 State Cross-Country Champions were recognized. At halftime, alumni Pete Algero, Jr. ’80, Michael Duplantier ‘64 SA, Jorge Henriquez ’83, Michael Johnston ’87, Ralph Romaguera , Sr. ‘67 SA, Scott Shea ’81, Scott Walker ’93 and Mark Wisniewski ’81 served as escorts for the court and Andie Corin Cancienne was introduced as the 2013 Homecoming Queen.
The Crusaders lost a hard fought battle to Holy Cross but that didn’t dampen the Crusader spirit as the party moved to Lakeview Harbor for a Lettermen Reunion. Football, basketball, NJROTC, cross-country and cheerleader alumni and guests enjoyed pasta, sliders and cold beverages. Tommy Mitchell ‘79, Development Director and Assistant to the President, thanked everyone for attending and encouraged them to stay in touch.
