This past summer I attended the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Massachusetts. Along with thousands of other students around my age, we intently listened to dozens of speakers of varying careers. There were biologists, neurologists, deans of ivy league schools, geneticists, winners of google science fairs, and even an astronaut in attendance. They spoke of what they studied and what made them famous. They also shared with us the importance of researching in partnership and finding a mentor to help us along the path to greatness. I met a lot of good friends that I still keep in touch with today. One of the things I took away from this experience was that failures are inevitable and may be numerous, but only by overcoming and learning to accept these failures can we succeed and move forward.
