Happy Feast Day of Father Andre’ Coindre!

“After me, it will be my Brother [Vincent]. But after him, you will have to govern yourselves…” - Letters of Father Coindre, Letter III (February 26, 1789 - May 30, 1826)

Today is the Feast Day of our founder, Father Andre’ Coindre, who passed away on this day, May 30, in 1826. The following description is taken from an icon in his honor:

“His size and demeanor, as well as his fiery rhetoric, helped convert and inspire a range of the populace from prisoners to wealthy benefactors. Yet it was the delicacy and tenderness of his compassionate heart that drove him. The heart he found in others, and others saw in him, was the incarnation; Christ present in the distressing guise of troubled and impoverished children. This Sacred Heart of Jesus became the image and the name under which his community of Brothers has served youth to this day.”

May we remember our founder, Father Coindre, as we go throughout today.

Ametur Cor Jesu! Ametur Cor Mariae!
