Ground Game Punishes Patterson in 49-28 Win

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERABrother Martin scored four first-half touchdowns to help defeat Patterson 49-28 in Week 1 of the 2014 season.  Brother Martin (1-0) wasted little time getting things going by opening the game with a 12-play, 70 yard drive that ate 5:52 off the clock. The running back duo of Jared West and Bruce Jordan-Swilling paved the way for the first score of the game with Jordan-Swilling powering into the end zone to take the 7-0 lead.  After a great defensive stand, the Crusaders scored again on a two-play drive. Quarterback Jake Broggi hit Jeremy Singleton for a 36-yard gain and West scored on a 39-yard scamper to put the Crusaders up 14-0.

The Crusaders scored touchdowns on four of their first six drives. Brother Martin finished with a whopping 253 yards rushing and 362 total yards in the half on its way to 594 total yards and 443 yards on the ground to finish the game.

West finished the game with 248 yards and three scores on 31 carries.  Jordan-Swilling racked up 175 yards and two scores on 17 carries. Broggi threw for 151 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions, and Singleton had five catches for 99 yards and a touchdown.

The Crusaders play next at Tad Gormley on Saturday, September 13th at 2:30 pm against the John Ehret Patriots.
