Congratulations to Corey Gaconi ’15, who was named Southland Conference (SLC) Pitcher of the Week. This recognition is sponsored by UniversalCoin.com. After giving up a home run to start Saturday’s game against Lamar, Gaconi rebounded to shut down the Cardinals the rest of the way tossing a complete game in Southeastern’s victory by a score of 4-1. He only allowed just the one run on six hits and struck out five players. He also did not walk a batter. During the game, Gaconi had strings of seven, eight and eight consecutive batters retired. Gaconi has improved to 2-0 this season and helped the Lions extended their winning streak to ten consecutive games.
Previously, Gaconi was also named pitcher of the week by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LWSA) for his outing March 4 against Seton Hall in the Cox Diamond Invitational.
Southeastern returns to the field on Wednesday, traveling to Baton Rouge to face No. 4-ranked LSU at Alex Box Stadium in a game to be broadcasted on the SEC Network+.
