Frederick Leads Crusaders to Win Over Hahnville

IMG_5145An impressive two-way performance from Blair Frederick led Brother Martin (20-11) to a 3-0 win Tuesday over Hahnville.

With only seven hits between the two teams, the LHSAA playoff opener was knotted up through five and a half innings of play, then Blair Frederick came to the plate.  Frederick sparked the Crusaders in the sixth inning by sending a ball out of the park recording two RBIs and the first runs of the game.  Brother Martin would get another run in the inning to go up 3-0 heading into the final inning.

The Crusaders called on senior closer Corey Gaconi put away the final three outs to record the save and seal the victory.

Hahnville’s lineup had no answer for Frederick. Frederick gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out eight during his six innings of work on the mound.

The team will be back in action this Friday at 6:30 pm in a best-of-three series versus Catholic League opponent Shaw at Kirsch Rooney.  Tickets can be purchased at the gate for $7 (adults/students), and $3 for 11 and under. Game two will be on Saturday at 3:30 pm, and game three (if necessary) is set to start at 6:30 pm.  All games will be played at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium. Go, ‘Saders!
