Football Defeats Shaw on Game Winning Drive

P1130495Saturday night at Hoss Memtsas, a pair of freshman Crusaders helped lead the Crusaders to a 28-21 victory. Brother Martin started the game driving 80 yards in eight plays and scoring on a Broggi to Singleton touchdown pass to make it 7-0 following Mitchell Boudreaux’s extra point.  The Crusaders scored again in the second quarter on a 24 yard TD pass to Singleton.

Shaw was able to get on the board after a good kickoff return. Shaw the drove 54 yards in five plays capitalizing on a 19 yard running TD to make it 14-7 with 8:04 to play in the half.  After getting a stop, the Eagles drove to the Brother Martin 13-yard line but the Crusaders held strong only giving up a field goal.

Brother Martin stretched the lead just before halftime with a Jordan six-yard TD run, capping an eight play, 78-yard drive to make it 21-10 at the break.

Shaw scored twice in the third quarter to tie the game at 21-21.  Brother Martin drove the length of the field scoring on a Bruce Jordan four-yard scoring run with 10 seconds left provided the margin of victory, capping a clutch 13 play, 98-yard drive to win 28-21.
