The Annual Brother Martin Football Convocation was held on Thursday, January 10 in the Tom & Gayle Benson Mall and marked an end to the Crusader 2018 football season. Family and friends of the football program came together to honor the 2018 state quarter-finalist football team. Both eighth-grade coach Stephen Lewis ’03 and ninth grade coach Don Riley highlighted their respective junior high teams’ season accomplishments. Then, varsity head coach Mark Bonis rounded out the evening highlighting the team and their individual accomplishments.
Coach Bonis acknowledged all of those individuals that were recognized this year for their outstanding performance on the field. The following 3 student-athletes were recognized, during the Christmas break, for their outstanding performance this year on the football field: Davonn Moore-All-Metro Finalist-DB; Michael Faust-All-Clarion Herald Elite Team-P; Brady Faust-All-Metro Finalist-WR, All-State Honorable Mention-WR.
Also, the following young men were nominated and selected as players of the week throughout the course of the season for specific game performances: Brady Faust, Drew Martin, Garrett Mmahat, and Chris Smith.
Along the same lines, Coach Bonis specially recognized both Beau Ranlett and Brady Faust for earning their way into the record books. Beau Ranlett tied the record for most tackles in a game this year with 25 in our playoff game vs Rummel. In 2017, Brady Faust tied for the most receptions in a game vs Jesuit with 9. Thank you to our players, parents, and fans for an incredible season!
