Saturday morning, Crusader 7th, 8th, and 9th graders gathered for a Brother Martin tailgate on campus with their dads. The guests were treated to food, drinks, and fun before heading to Tad Gormley to cheer on the Crusaders against the Spartans.
The Spartans took a 14-0 lead late in the first half, but the Crusaders hit a field goal with no time left to cut the deficit to 14-3 at the break.
Broggi hit Singleton for an early third quarter touchdown, but the Spartans answered right back. Broggi was 17 of 20 for 131 yards and his first two career touchdown passes, and Bruce Jordan ended up with two touchdowns in the second half to keep the game close. In the end, the Crusaders came up short by a score of 35-30.
Brother Martin (2-2) takes on Vandebilt Catholic next week in the final non-district test before Catholic League play begins.
