During the Excalibur National Honor Society for Science’s meeting in October, our Crusaders heard a presentation from Dr. Alex Juneau, DVM. Juneau is a 2006 graduate of Brother Martin. He received his Animal Science degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2010 followed by his doctorate in veterinary medicine in 2014 from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine.
Currently, Juneau works for Metairie Small Animal Hospital as a veterinarian and is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association.
Juneau spoke to club members about working as a veterinarian as well his educational training and the application process for veterinary school. He encouraged the students to explore their science interests in high school by volunteering for a local vet clinic, for example. He also explained to the students the many specializations within the field of veterinary medicine: small animal, large/farm animal, equine, and rare species specializations.
Special thanks to alumnus Dr. Alex Juneau ’06 and his dog, Stevie, for returning to campus to present to our 2019-2020 Excalibur members!
