DJ Augustin ’06 Shares His Passion for Basketball at Camp

On July 30, DJ Augustin '06 returned to his home away from home on Elysian Fields Ave. for his annual basketball camp. Last year, Augustin brought back the DJ Augustin Basketball Camp to Brother Martin with the help of mentors, colleagues, friends, and the faculty and staff at Brother Martin. When Augustin is not perfecting his skills as a point guard in the NBA, he gives back through various opportunities and programs for the kids in his community.

This upcoming NBA season will be Augustin’s 11th and third season with the Orlando Magic. Augustin was an important contributor to the Crusader basketball program, leading the 2004 and 2005 teams to consecutive state championships. He said in an interview with Ken Trahan, “I think we were one of the best teams ever to come out of New Orleans. The things we did here, on and off the court, were special. The way we carried ourselves and represented Brother Martin was special and it will be remembered forever.”

The DJ Augustin Basketball camp provides an athletic foundation for boys ages 8-15 to develop and improve their basketball skills. Boys of all basketball levels attend this camp while receiving a positive and encouraging environment to learn and have a great time. The camp also provides participants with the tools to become better players and helps stimulate enthusiasm for the game.
