Haven’t read the story….here’s a synopsis courtesy of Nicholas Russo ‘18, Student Director and Noah Catalanotto ‘18, Student Assistant Director:

Ponyboy Curtis is an orphan who lives on the “wrong side of town” with his two older brothers. Together with friend Johnny Cade and other boys from the neighborhood, they make up the gang known as the Greasers. Each is an individual–some are scholarly, while others are drop-outs. They range in temperament from tough to sensitive, from dreamy to responsible, from devil-may-care to passionate. Yet, to the rest of the town, they blend into one group that is feared or taunted.Ever before them are their socioeconomic opposites, the town’s wealthy teens know as Socs, short for the exclusive social club to which they belong. This rival gang attacks the Greasers at the slightest provocation. They too are individuals…leaders or followers, selfish or compassionate…but the Greasers see them as all alike, just rich bullies to be avoided. The conflict between the groups ultimately leads to the flight of Ponyboy and Johnny, where they gain brief glimpses into a world with no class distinctions. Your students will watch each character develop and become more than just one of a gang. And they will connect with the efforts of the Curtis brothers to stay together against incredible odds and with Johnny’s fervent wish that Ponyboy “stay gold” in a world where it is more likely that a boy in his circumstances will turn bad.
