NOLA.com recruiting writer Andrew Lopez recently spoke with junior tight end Irv Smith to talk about his recruitment. The Class of 2016 standout has heard from schools such as Miami, Arizona State, Tulane, Colorado State, Ohio, Western Kentucky, Arkansas State, LSU, Notre Dame and Texas. Smith says he “always loved Notre Dame” but is open to looking at all possibilities. Smith’s father, former New Orleans Saints tight end Irv Smith, played for the Fighting Irish from 1989-92.
Rivals rates Smith as a three-star prospect and the No. 13 tight end in the country. He’s ranked at No. 28 in the NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune Nifty 50.
