On Saturday, June 4, Archbishop Gregory Aymond ’67 CJ conferred the Sacrament of Holy Orders on Fr. David Ducote ’04 in front of family and friends. This special Mass occurred at St. Louis Cathedral. In attendance at the Mass was fellow graduate of Brother Martin, Nathaniel Peters ‘13, who is currently student at St. Joseph Seminary College.  In addition, Robert Frank ‘12 and Andrew Sanchez ‘03, both Notre Dame Seminarians, served as acolytes. David’s first assignment will be as a Parochial Vicar for St. Clement of Rome in Metairie.

Ducote, a St. Bernard Parish native, was a member of the ordination class of 2016. This was the largest ordination class since 2001. David’s faith was strengthened after Hurricane Katrina, which aided his decision in becoming a priest.  Recently, David completed a five-month internship at St. Catherine of Siena Parish while learning the daily duties of running a parish and meeting the needs of parishioners. In addition, David was vested by his former Prince of Peace Pastor Fr. Walter Austin. Currently, Fr. Austin is the pastor of Ascension of Our Lord Parish in LaPlace.
