Culture of Life Day

IMG_4064Brother Martin High School began the Church’s call to acknowledge October as Respect Life Month with the Religion Department’s annual celebration of “Culture of Life Day.” This year, because of the timeliness of the issue and because of this year’s Great Read entitled, Enrique’s Journey, the story of an unaccompanied youth who travels from Honduras to North Carolina to reunite with his mother, the “Culture of Life Day” focused on the life issue of immigration. Various speakers from the archdiocese’s Hispanic Apostolate spoke to all of our students in the students’ religion classes to educate students and faculty about why we are having this recent wave of illegal immigration and what the Church is calling us to do about it. Every student will receive a copy of Enrique’s Journey before the Christmas break.
