Crusaders Win Against McKinley in Playoffs

img_8431_edited-1The Crusaders from Elysian Fields opened the first-round of the Division I football playoffs with a victory over the McKinley Panthers by a score of 42 – 0. After being held scoreless in the 1st quarter, the Crusaders settled down and scored four touchdowns in the 2nd quarter. Quarterback John-Paul “JP” Pierce began the scoring with a ten yard touchdown run that was set up by a Patrick Willis fumble recovery. Pierce then connected with receiver Jeremy Singleton on a 47 yard touchdown pass that was set up by an Ashton Merritt interception. Receiver Brady Faust then got in on the scoring action with a 76 yard punt return. Running back Bruce Jordan-Swilling capped off the 2nd quarter scoring with a 32 yard touchdown run. Jordan-Swilling and Chris Smith would each score on one yard touchdown runs in the 3rd quarter to complete the Crusaders impressive offensive performance.

The Crusaders will travel to Baton Rouge to take on the Catholic High Bears in a quarterfinal match on Friday, November 18, 2016. Kickoff is set for 7p.m. from Olympia Stadium in Baton Rouge.  Tickets can be purchased in the Bookstore for $8….or $10 at the gate.  Student id’s and season passes will not be honored for this contest. Please note that children five years old and under will be admitted free. Six years old and above attendees will need a general admission ticket.
