Crusaders Top the Owls at Annual Homecoming Game

Last Friday Night, the Crusaders notched their first District 9-5A win with a 34-13 victory over Chalmette at Tad Gormley Stadium.  Leading the way for Brother Martin was senior running back Jabbar Singleton with 167 yards rushing on 12 carries and four touchdowns.  Also helping the Crusaders seal the victory were running back Jared West who rushed for 57 yards and a touchdown on nine carries and quarter back Stephen Bonnaffons who went 2-of-5 for 53 yards passing. Defensively, Andrew Boucvalt and William Douglass each had an interception as the Brother Martin defense held the Owls to 72 yards and three first downs in the first half.

Brother Martin had its annual homecoming festivities prior to and during the game.  Alumni, friends, parents and families of the band, cheerleaders, and football team gathered for a pre-game tailgate.  At the tailgate fans enjoyed jambalaya, music, face painting, performances by the Crusader Marching band and NJROTC Drill Team, and a presentation of the 2012 Homecoming court.  At halftime, the court was presented to the everyone in attendance, and the queen was crowned.  Congratulations to Emily Claire Sossaman from Mount Carmel Academy on being named the Brother Martin Homecoming Queen.  Emily’s father, Craig is a 1979 graduate of Brother Martin.
