Crusaders Throw a No Hitter in 7-1 Win Over Shaw

Gongora-LahareTwo Crusader pitchers joined forces to throw a no-hitter and lead Brother Martin (17-2, 1-0) in a 7-1 victory in seven innings over Archbishop Shaw on Tuesday afternoon at Archbishop Shaw to open district play.

Jarett Gongora and Connor Fallon teamed up to stifle Archbishop Shaw, striking out five while walking four.

Gongora (4-0) had an impressive outing against Archbishop Shaw’s lineup holding the Eagle batters hitless over six innings, allowing no earned runs, walking four and ringing up four batters.

 

dt.common.streams.StreamServerBrother Martin captured the lead early and never looked back.  After the first inning, the Crusaders scored two runs on a solo home run by Daniel Lahare and a groundout by Owen Magee.

The offense exploded for the Brother Martin Crusaders in the fourth, scoring five runs on three hits and two intentional walks. Magee opened the inning with a single followed by a Jonathan Parker intentional walk.  The next batter, Deroche, singled to loaded the bases. Kevin Stretzinger was hit by a pitch to drive in a run while another run scored on Brice Johnston’s bunt to make it 4-0. Gongora drove in a pair with a single to center and another run scored on an error by the centerfielder.

Daniel Lahare reached base three times. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He homered in the first inning and singled in the Jarett.Gongoraseventh inning.

The Crusaders will travel to Jesuit on Friday to take on the Blue Jays.  The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm.
