Brother Martin (5-0) continued its early season success as they piled up four first-half scores and took advantage of three Vandebilt turnovers to down the Terriers 49-0 on Friday night.
After forcing the Terriers to punt, the Crusaders finished a four play 69 yard drive with a 43 yard TD run from Bruce Jordan-Swilling for the first points of the game. Jared West got his turn on the Crusader’s next drive, scoring from 11 yards out to give Brother Martin a 14-0 lead.
Brother Martin’s next two touchdowns came off two Terrier turnovers as Aaron Detiege recovered a fumble, and Tre’ Swilling picked off a pass on consecutive possessions. Jordan-Swilling scored again from 6 yards out, and quarterback Jake Broggi hit Tyre Lee in the end zone for a 6-yard TD pass for a 28-0 lead at halftime.
The Crusaders would dominate the second half and score another 21 points to secure the 49-0 win.
The Crusader defense forced three Vandebilt turnovers held the Terriers to just one first down in the first half and 110 yards for the game.
Brother Martin will open Catholic League play against St. Augustine on Saturday, October 11th at 2:30 at Tad Gormley.
