The Brother Martin Crusaders (13-4) started off the new year with a 60-53 win over Salmen on Tuesday night.
The Crusader defense flexed its muscles going on a 13-0 run from the end of the first quarter through midway into the second. The Spartans did not shoot well from the floor and were outscored 18-7 in the second quarter to give Brother Martin a 35-22 halftime lead. In the third quarter, Salmen cut the lead to nine points, but Brother Martin would maintain a double digit lead for all but the final 1:30 of the game.
Jordan Cornish scored 15 of his 23 points in the first half to help lead the Crusaders to victory.
Brother Martin is back in action Friday night against McMain High School in the Conlin Gym. The JV team will start the action at 6:00 pm, and the varsity will follow. Go ‘Saders!
