The newest officers and members of the Excalibur National Honor Society for Excellence in Science, Key Club, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Student Ambassadors, and Student Council were inducted into their respective organizations on Tuesday, November 29, 2022. More than 110 Crusaders were honored by their moderator(s) for their accomplishments, and each inductee was challenged to serve the Brother Martin community with the gifts and talents that God has given them.
Following the inductions, our principal Mr. Ryan Gallagher '00 shared closing remarks, speaking to the selfless servant leadership apparent in Brother Martin's faculty, staff, administration, and in the everyday actions of our students and reminding our inductees that they now carry a torch that they must one day pass on:
"Think about this: there were students who came before you who sat in the chair in which you now sit. There were young men before you who occupied the leadership roles you now find yourselves in. They took the torch from someone who came before them, further ignited that torch for the better, and handed it off to you – confident that you would do the same – that you will continue the Brother Martin tradition of excellent leadership.
Students are now watching you, hoping to emulate you, hoping that they will get the opportunity to sit in your chair and stand in your role one day. The challenge I leave you with tonight is to ensure that you further ignite the torch that you will eventually be responsible for passing on yourselves."
Brother Martin is honored to be home to such shining examples of Christlike servitude. We are inspired by our students honored at this ceremony who have taken up the call of leadership for purpose of bettering our Brother Martin community. Congratulations to all those who were inducted this year! We look forward to seeing all the great things that you contribute to Brother Martin and the greater community in the future. You are true servant leaders.
