On Wednesday, February 3rd, Feast Day of St. Blaise, Brother Martin hosted blessings all day for the healing of throats. Faculty, staff, and students visited the James B. Branton Chapel to receive blessings from Brother Louis M. Couvillon, S.C. and members of the faculty/staff. In addition, students were able to attend during their Religion classes throughout the day.
During the blessing, two candles are blessed, held slightly open, and pressed against the throat as the blessing is spoken. Saint Blaise protects those with throat troubles which comes from a legend where a boy who had a fish bone stuck in his throat was brought to him, and Saint Blaise healed him.
