Crusaders Hang on to Defeat the Raiders

IMG_0133With less than two minutes left in the game, Rummel led Brother Martin by a point, but senior Patrick McCree hit three free throws in the final 37 seconds to give the Crusaders a 51-48 road win on Friday.

The Crusaders led for the entire first half, but in the third quarter, Rummel erased an eight point gap to take their first lead of the game on a fast-break layup.  At the start of the 4th quarter, the game was tied 38-38, but good Crusader defense forced numerous turnovers in the final quarter which helped secure the victory.

Jordan Cornish finished the game with 15 points and 5 rebounds while Jordan Lumpkins had 15 points, seven rebounds and two blocks, including a slam dunk on a break away in the third quarter.

Also leading the charge was Jalen Gray who added nine points and six rebounds and Jabbar Singleton who had eight boards for Brother Martin.

The No. 4 ranked Crusaders will face Chalmette Tuesday at 7:00 pm and close the season with games against West Jefferson and Jesuit.
