The Brother Martin Band Department hosted their annual Percussion Concert before the end of school year featuring the Percussion Ensemble and Stage Band. Family and friends of the Crusaders gathered in the Brother Mark Thornton Terrace for a musical performance by members of these talented bands. At the event, the percussionist donned their Hawaiian shirts while they performed a calypso rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and even went their “Separate Ways” for the Beginner Percussion class with their original composition, “Our Beat!” Assistant Band Director Chris Bailey ’86 was on hand to play bass guitar alongside his students. The Crusader Jazz Band put guests in festival mood with their arrangement/performance of “Big Chief” featuring Michael Connick on Piano. The ensemble performed a number of songs including “Money Grabber,” an arrangement by Ben Buller ‘16, and ended the event with “Jazzy Fight Song” that was arranged by the 2013 Crusader Jazz Band.
