The Crusaders (16-2) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first in Sunday’s game against West Ouachita. The Crusader offense woke up as Daniel Lahare singled followed by a Jarett Gongora double, scoring Lahare. Brother Martin never surrendered the lead after the third inning, scoring one run on an RBI double by Owen Magee.
Corey Gaconi got it done on the mound pitching seven strong innings to carry Brother Martin to a 2-1 win over West Ouachita.
Sunday’s game was the end of four consecutive weekends of baseball for the Crusaders. Beginning on Thursday, the Crusaders fell 2-1 to Hahnville, beat Central Lafourche 11-0 and lost to Destrehan 4-1 (both on Saturday).
The Crusaders will travel to the West Bank to open up district play on Tuesday at 4:00 pm against the Shaw Eagles.
