On Friday night during the second period, the Brother Martin Crusader Varsity basketball team battled back against district rival Rummel. Led by the play of Denzel Flemings and Jalen Gray, the duo made big play after big play, grabbing key rebounds, making defensive stops and restarting the sputtering Crusaders’ offense which trailed Rummel 31-20 midway through the third period. The pair held Brother Martin together, and then Jordan Cornish came off the bench to score 12 of the Crusaders’ 13 points in the final 2:12 to secure a 53-43 victory over the Raiders.
The Crusaders will travel to the Bird Cage on Tuesday to face Jesuit. This will also be the basketball ONE event. Come out and show the Crusader spirit as ONE.
