Crusaders Fall to Petal High in Season Opener

IMG_1257The Crusaders took a tough loss Saturday against Petal (Miss.) High School, 40-14, at Tad Gormley Stadium.

The day was a scorcher, and the Crusaders struggled during their season opener to overpower the 6A (Region 3) Division Panthers which already had two games under their belt. Despite early setbacks, the Crusaders moved the ball well in the first half, but fourth-down stops and turnovers left the team short until John-Paul Pierce hit the end-zone on a 15-yard run with 37 seconds left in the half.

Prior to the game, students held their first tailgate of the season and families enjoyed cooking out and hearing the Brother Martin Crusader Marching Band practice on the greens outside of the stadium.

The Crusaders look forward to next week’s game v. Warren Easton High School.
