Crusaders Fall to Edna Karr Cougars

29612316512_f7589af8a2_zOn Thursday night at Tad Gormley Stadium, the Brother Martin Crusaders (2-1) faced off against the Edna Karr Cougars (3-0) in a matchup that featured two of the top three ranked teams in the Louisiana Sportswriters poll, Brother Martin at No. 1 and Karr at No. 3. The game featured big plays from both sides as running back Bruce Jordan-Swilling led the Crusaders with 210 yards and 5 touchdowns. Late in the 4th quarter, the Crusaders were able to cut the Cougar’s lead to 49-46 on a 70 yard touchdown pass from John Paul Pierce to Pattre’en Hughes, but that was as close as the game would get. The final score was 55-46 in favor of the Cougars.

The Crusaders look to bounce back this Friday, September 23, 2016 against the John Curtis Patriots. The game begins at 7 p.m. at Zephyr Stadium. Tickets can be purchased in the Bookstore for $6, or at the gate on game night for $8.  Student ID’s and season passes will be honored for this game. Parking at the stadium will cost $5 and  there will be a student drop-off zone outside of the stadium. A firework show will begin after the game.

The game will also be broadcasted on ESPNU as part of the 2016 GEICO ESPN High School Football Showcase, which features 12 games played over 10 weeks and boasts some of the top matchups in the country.Tickets can be purchased in the  Bookstore for $6, or at the gate on game night for $8.  Student ID’s and season passes will be honored for this contest.  Parking at the stadium will cost $5.  In addition, there will be a student drop-off zone outside of the stadium.
