Crusaders Down St. Charles Catholic; Look Ahead to Jesuit

IMG_0535Crusader senior Gregory Deichmann went 2-2, helping Brother Martin (23-3, 5-1) to a 6-5 victory over St. Charles Catholic on Tuesday on Farley Field.

Andrew Boucvalt recorded the win for the Crusaders, and closer Connor Fallon put away the final two outs to record the save.

St. Charles Catholic jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the top of the first. In the bottom of the first, Brother Martin scored on a sacrifice fly by Owen Magee, bringing home Jarett Gongora.

Brother Martin scored two more runs in the third inning on a two-run double by Jonathan Parker, scoring Magee and Deichmann bringing the score to 4-3.

The Crusaders were still down 5-4 after answering St. Charles Catholic’s run with one of its own in the fourth, scoring on an RBI single by Owen.

The Crusaders followed it up with two more runs in the fifth resulting in the final score of 6-5.

Brother Martin will play Jesuit Wednesday night at Kirsch-Rooney in a battle for first place in the district.  First pitch is set for 7:00 pm.
