Crusaders Defeat Blue Jays

20151108_483The Crusaders (8-2, 5-2) defeated the Jesuit Blue Jays  (4-6, 1-5) with a hook and lateral play at Tad Gormley Stadium on Friday, November 6, 2015. With 19 seconds remaining in the game and the Crusaders trailing 42-46, Quarterback Jake Broggi ’16 found Jeremy Singleton ’17 on a simple hook play. Singleton then lateraled to a streaking Jordan-Swilling ’17 who scored the go ahead touchdown. The play helped the Crusaders defeat Jesuit by a score of 49-46.

Jesuit had one chance with five seconds left and almost pulled off the upset. Then, Brother Martin was led by Broggi ’16 completing 13 of 21 passes for 303 yards and five touchdowns. Jordan-Swilling ’17 added 243 total yards and two touchdowns, including the game winner.

Crusaders will be back in action on November 20, 2015  versus Catholic High School in the quarterfinal round of the state playoffs.  Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. at Tad Gormley Stadium.  Tickets can be purchased starting Monday for $8 and $10 at the gate.
