After a 1-0 loss to Jesuit, Brother Martin (18-3, 2-1) cruised to a blowout 10-1 win in seven innings over Rummel at Kirsch-Rooney on Tuesday night.
The Crusaders grabbed an early lead by scoring 1 run in the 1st and steadily widened the gap before breaking the game open in the fifth inning to seal the victory.
Brother Martin put up one run in each of the fourth, sixth and seventh innings. In the fourth, the Crusaders scored on an RBI single by Owen Magee, bringing home Daniel Lahare.
Brother Martin opened up the game scoring four runs in the fifth on a fielder’s choice, an RBI single by Jarett Gongora, and an RBI single by Owen Magee.
Magee racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Crusaders.
Archbishop Rummel couldn’t get anything going as long as Connor Fallon was on the mound. Connor held Archbishop Rummel hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.
Luke Bernard got it done on the bump on the way to a win. He allowed one run over five innings. Luke struck out three, walked three and gave up three hits.
Brother Martin will try to keep things rolling against Holy Cross at Maestri Field at UNO this Friday at 6:00 pm.
