On Friday night, it was a showdown at the ‘Shrine on Airline’ between Brother Martin and Jesuit for Senior Night. The Crusaders (7-3, 4-2) defeated the Blue Jays by a score of 28-10. Senior Matthew Clapp led a Crusader defense that limited the Blue Jays to 77 yards rushing. Clapp finished with two sacks and wreaked havoc in the Jesuit backfield all night. Senior running back Bruce Jordan-Swilling led the Crusader offense with 116 yards rushing and scored three touchdowns. Other than a first half interception, quarterback John-Paul “JP” Pierce was able to pick apart the Jesuit secondary and threw for 183 yards. He also ran for a touchdown late in the 4th quarter.
The Crusaders begin the first round of the Division I playoffs as they host the McKinley Panthers (Baton Rouge) on Friday night at Zephyr Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, November 8 in the Bookstore for $7 or $9 at the gate. Student id’s or season passes are not valid during the playoffs.
