The Crusader basketball team mounted a thrilling comeback in the fourth quarter to defeat the St. Paul’s Wolves by a score of 69 – 66 on Friday night. The victory puts the Crusaders in the Division I semifinal round for the first time since 2012. The Crusaders found themselves trailing 63 -57 in the fourth quarter, so coach Chris Biehl put his most athletic lineup on the court. The move paid off as the Crusaders scored 20 points in the quarter and hung on for the thrilling victory. Tré Swilling led the scoring effort with 21 points, including ten in the fourth quarter. Also scoring in double figures was Jeremy Singleton with 11 points. Other contributors for the Crusaders were Tyler Epps (nine points), Bruce Jordan-Swilling (eight points), Vejon Wallis (seven points), Tyler Lally (five points), Davonn “Peanut” Moore (4 points), Blake Zamjahn (two points), and Pattre’en Hughes (two points).
The Crusaders will continue their playoff run in Lake Charles on Thursday when they take on the St. Augustine Purple Knights for 4:45 p.m. at the Burton Coliseum for “Marsh Madness.”
