On Friday, the Brother Martin community held its own Crusader Fest as the city of New Orleans kicked off Jazz Festival. At Crusader Fest there were many food vendors such as Subway, Smoothie King, a Snowball truck, and Coach Bennie’s Pastalaya. Farley Field was filled with games and activities for the students like Human Hampster Ball, Laser Tag, volleyball, and a video game truck. Musical entertainment was provided by a DJ and the student band “Blank.” Crusader Fest also had a “Pie a Teacher” Key Club Fundraiser for Rebuilding Together. Coach Lewis and Ms. Trege raised the most money, earning them a pie in the face. The festivities ended with a class level flag competition and the announcement of the new Student Council officers.
