On Saturday, January 18, our Brother Martin Crusaders for Life & Justice club members attended the Louisiana Right to Life’s Proudly Pro-Life Gala sponsored by both Louisiana and New Orleans Right to Life. Founded in 1970, this year celebrated 50 years of defending life in Louisiana and helping expectant mothers in New Orleans and across Louisiana. Today, Louisiana is recognized as the most pro-life state in the country. Students had the chance to connect with State Representative Larry Frieman from the Class of 1979. Guest honorees and speakers included State Senator Katrina Jackson, Archbishop Gregory Aymond '67 CJ, Chairs Mike and Dana Hammer, Attorney General Jeff Landry, U.S. Congressman Steve Scalise, Executive Director of Louisiana Right to Life Benjamin Clapper, Don Garvey '50 SA (2020 Senator Allen J. Ellender Alumnus of the Year), and Kirk Cameron as the keynote speaker.

Many of our Crusader dinner attendees will be leaving Tuesday night to travel to Washington, D.C. with hundreds of other high school students from the Archdiocese of New Orleans to protest the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision, which legalized abortion in this country, at the March for Life. We will keep them in our prayers for a safe and successful trip.
