Brother Martin Athletic Director, Scott Williams, Greg Rando, Principal, and Head Basketball Coach Chris Biehl announce the addition of Coach Russ Williams as a junior varsity/varsity assistant basketball coach. Coach Biehl stated that “Coach Williams is a perfect addition to our basketball staff at Brother Martin. He is a man of integrity that will provide our student-athletes with knowledge necessary for success both on and off the floor.”
Russ Williams graduated in 1992 from Manhattan College in Riverdale, New York with a B.S. degree in Business Management. At Manhattan College he played on the quarterfinal team at the NIT in 1992, was a co-captain, and scored 1,140 career points (15th all-time). Coach Williams is a 1987 graduate of Msgr. McClancy Memorial High School, a Brothers of the Sacred Heart school, located in East Elmhurst, New York. As a two year varsity starter at Msgr. McClancy, Coach Williams served as team tri-captain during his senior year and as a junior received the McClancy Varsity Coaches Award. He received 3rd team all-city honors from the New York Post, was MVP of the Brother Arnold Memorial Tournament, a member of the McDonald’s Iolani Prep Classic team in Hawaii, Msgr. McClaney’s offensive player of the year award recipient, and was selected to the CHSAA All-Division team. In 2003, Coach Williams was inducted into the Msgr.
