On Friday night at Tad Gormley Stadium, the Brother Martin Crusaders (2-0) and St. Stanislaus Rock-A-Chaws (3-1) met in one of the most anticipated matchups of the season. The game featured highly touted quarterback, and LSU commit, Myles Brennan versus the Crusader defense. Using a variety of defensive fronts and different blitz packages, the Crusaders were able to hold Brennan in check and cruise to a 42-7 victory over the Rock-A-Chaws.
Senior running back Bruce Jordan-Swilling led the offense with three touchdowns, all in the first-half. He finished the game with 170 yards on 12 carries. Junior quarterback John-Paul Pierce threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns, a 45 yard strike to Erick Lassair and a 42 yard pass to Pattre’en Hughes. Chris Smith capped off the impressive offensive performance with a 7-yard touchdown run.
Prior to Friday night’s game, Brother Martin hosted a tailgate for members of the Brother Martin and St. Stanislaus communities. Friends and families enojoyed jambalaya, sandwiches, and other snacks. Guests were treated to a special treat of crimson and gold shields and Rock- A-Chaws cookies. Tailgaters then headed into Tad Gormley Stadium to witness the Crusaders go up against the Rock- A- Chaws.
The Crusaders take to the field on Thursday, September 15, 2016 against the Edna Karr Cougars at Tad Gormley Stadium. Kick- off will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in the Bookstore for $6. Student id’s will not be honored for this game.
