The Crusader Concert Band received the Sweepstakes award at the 2016 LMEA Large Ensemble Assessment!
The Crusader Band participated in an annual performance at the LMEA Large Ensemble Assessment on Tuesday, March 22nd at Chalmette High School. This annual Festival is an opportunity for bands at the elementary, middle, and high school levels to perform three contrasting works including a required piece chosen to reflect the school’s enrollment size.
During the event, the music is performed before a panel of three judges on the main auditorium stage. After the performance, the Crusader Band was given a rating from poor to superior which included comments from the judges to help the Crusader Band improve for the future. Also, the Crusader Band was judged on a piece of music never before seen by the Band or Director. After a teaching period of eight minutes where the Crusader Band can only sing, clap, or talk about the work, the Band performed the piece in front of the judges and received the rating of superior!
