Last school year, the Brother Martin Crusaders captured its fifth consecutive Division I wrestling team title at the 2016 LHSAA State Wrestling Championships. Now, the Crusaders are ready to wrestle into a new season going for a sixth consecutive title. They started their season off at the Raider Open last weekend and various wrestlers placed respectively in their categories.
This past weekend, the Crusader wrestlers won the 2016 Cinco Ranch Big 12 tournament in Katy, TX. At Cinco Ranch they dominated on the mat defeating Cypress Woods High and Katy High. They also defeated Mayde Creek of Houston by a score of 58-21, but lost 39-30 to Katy on Friday. The Individual Champions included Daniel Varnado (106), Daniel Croy (113), Luke Cotton (120), Steven Shields (126), Paul Elmer (152), and Nathaniel Perdue (195).
The varsity team will travel to East Ascension to wrestle in a tri-meet against East Ascension and St. Amant on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. To view full results, please click here.
