Crusader Wrestling Dominates in Mandeville Open

wrestlingThe Crusader wrestling team got off to a great start over the weekend by winning the Mandeville Open. The team entered wrestlers in 12 out of the 14 weight classes. The Crusaders had six first  and six second team members that dominated the 12 team tournament. Finishing as individual tournament champions were Connor Hoffman (106), Ethan Castex (113), Ross Mayer (132), Patrick Evans (145), Colby Franovich (160), and Kolbe Landry (220). Finishing as runners- up were Justin Leal (120), Alex Duncan (138), Noah Roux (152), and Mason Masicot (170). Placing third was Riley Horvath 126 weight class. Next weekend, the Crusader varsity travels to Katy for their dual meet vs. Katy and Katy Taylor. On Saturday, they will compete in the 2017 Cinco Ranch Big 12 tournament in Katy, TX. Last year, the Crusaders were victorious in Texas as they defeated Cypress Woods High and Katy High.

In addition, the junior varsity had seven entries in the Brother Martin JV Tournament. Leading the Crusaders were individual tournament champions Jake Spellman (106)  Aidan Damario (113), Brandon Cotton (126), and Jacob Schmidt (152). Gable Dauterive(132) also finished as a runner- up and  Quinn Williams (120) finished in third place.
