Crusader Wrestling Completes a Successful Weekend of Tournaments

Congratulations to our Crusader wrestling teams for a successful weekend on the mat. Our wrestlers placed second (512.5) out of 30 teams at the Gulf Coast Clash in Mobile, AL. Brother Martin scored more points than Catholic High of Baton Rouge in 4th place,  Holy Cross in 7th place, and Jesuit in 12th place. In addition, our Crusaders outscored the Georgia 4A State Champions, Woodward Academy, the Georgia 6A State Champions, Valdosta, and the Alabama 6A State Champions, McAdory.

Of the 12 weight classes in which they scored points, Brother Martin had seven wrestlers with only one loss over the two-day tournament. Each of those losses was only to the tournament champion. The overall record was 65-22 with 38 pins (for the team point scorers only).

Other tournament participants were Chase Scott ‘21 (132) who placed 12th, Campbell Viles ‘20 (138) who placed 17th, Justin Savoie ‘20 (145) who placed 8th, Brandon Cotton ‘20 (152) who placed 16th, and Luke Ohler ‘22 (160) who placed 21st.

In addition to the participation in the Gulf Coast Clash, six Crusader wrestlers competed in the varsity division of the Bulldog Brawl hosted by Fontainebleau High School.
