Thursday after school Brother Martin hosted the Fontainebleau Bulldogs in the regional round of the playoffs. At the end of the first half, the game remained scoreless. In the 47th minute, Pierce Rubenstein blasted a shot off the throw in from David Fontenot. After a foul in the box, Fontainebleau tied the game 1-1 with a penalty kick. Fontainebleau was able to take the lead in the 71st minute. Nearing the end of the game, the Crusaders rallied together and tied the game two minutes into extra time. Rubenstein’s game-tying goal helped propel the third-seeded Crusaders to a 3-2 overtime victory in a Division I regional playoff match at E. A. Farley Field on Thursday. The winning goal was scored by Craig Schaffer with the assist coming from Brandon Broders.
The Crusaders will travel to play No. 11-seeded Dutchtown in the quarterfinals on Tuesday at 6:00 pm.
